Our range covers barrel racing, reining, western dressage, ranch and stockwork, trail riding, and general pleasure riding. We carry our own McDonald's Saddlery brand saddles, designed for Australian conditions and priced for everyday riders, alongside Masters Saddles — a high-end Brazilian brand well regarded in the competitive western community for their craftsmanship and performance. Youth and toddler options are in the range too, so the whole family is covered.
Every order over $150 ships free anywhere in Australia, and every saddle here comfortably clears that threshold. If the fit isn't right, new and unused saddles can be returned within 7 days of receipt — just get in touch first so we can issue a Return Authorisation Number and make the process as smooth as possible.
Western Saddles — Frequently Asked Questions
Western saddle seat sizes run from 13" to 17", measured across the seat from the swell to the cantle. Children and petite adults generally suit 13"–14", most adults ride comfortably in 15"–16", and larger riders or those who prefer more room tend to go 16"–17".
Gullet width — the channel that runs along your horse's spine — matters just as much as seat size, and should match your horse's shoulder width for a proper fit. If you're unsure where to start, get in touch and we'll help you narrow it down.
Barrel saddles are designed for speed and tight turns — they position the rider forward with a deep, secure seat and high cantle to keep you in place through a run. Trail saddles prioritise comfort over longer distances, with a more balanced seat position, extra padding, and usually more points to attach gear.
We also carry reining & ranch saddles (like our high-quality proprietary Oaklea Saddle), and all-rounders for general western riding — so whatever your discipline, there's something in the range for you.
Masters is a premium Brazilian saddle brand well regarded in the competitive western community, particularly for barrel racing. McDonald's Saddlery is one of the few Australian stockists of the Masters range.
They sit at the higher end of the price spectrum — generally $3,400–$3,600 — but for riders competing at a serious level, the craftsmanship and performance speak for themselves.

Yes — we carry youth western saddles from 12" seat sizes and toddler saddles from 8", built to the same standard as our adult range, just scaled down. It's a good way to get younger riders started on the right gear.
